“I blame the microwave for most of our problems; anything that gets that hot without a fire that's from the devil” Ellen DeGeneres http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MU-UGMDFsts
And it pretty much summaries it. But just like my friends I bet you want to understand why it’s bad for you and then decide for yourself if you’re going to kick your microwave out of your home or keep hurting your health. Free will is important! J
The Swiss Federal Institute of Biochemistry made a study on the effects that microwaved food had on eight individuals, by taking blood samples immediately after eating. They found that after eating microwaved food, haemoglobin levels decreased. "These results show anaemic tendencies. The situation became even more pronounced during the second month of the study".
They also found that Lymphocytes (white blood cells) also showed a more distinct short-term decrease following the intake of microwaved food than after the intake of all the other variants.
the white blood cell are the one that in charge of defends the body against infection and disease.
Another change was a decrease in the ratio of HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol) values.
And what about the fact that microwave can explode water?! Try to imagine what it needs to do to water to make it EXPLODE!!!! EXPLODE! Like BOOM! Crazy!
Have you ever thought about what it’s actually doing to the food to make it cook so fast? Or how the hell it cooks an egg in less than a minute and a half?
Microwaves work by using high-frequency radio waves (called microwaves) to make the molecules in your food move very fast, creating heat.

What makes microwaves so effective is that the radio waves have the ability to pass through paper, plastic and glass while being absorbed by your food.

Your food absorbs everything, meaning your body absorbs it too! GROSS! And extremely dangerous.
Also the radio waves used by microwaves, as with any other device that uses radio waves, produce radiation; in this case to your food. Yummy!
I love treats; brownies, fudge, cupcake, ice cream etc.
All of them are empty energy. Meaning I don’t get any nutrients from it but I do get sugar, bad fat, carbs that doesn't help me etc.
Part of what microwave does in order to cook and heat that fast is to break the food molecules so what you eat is food that doesn't have anything in it. Besides radio waves….
Is that what you want to eat? Would you give it to your children?
You can have a very healthy diet and cook all your food from scratch but if you’re going to heat it all in the microwave you might as well eat pizza every day.
I used to use microwave only for waxing but since then I just put the microwave in my storage room. I never use it for food or drinks; I prefer to eat my food cold but eat food and not something that used to be food and now has unnatural radio waves in it.
Let’s pledge to eat real food.
Are you with me?

“All you need is love” sang The Beatles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4p8qxGbpOk ) and I agree.
I don’t think I would have been where I am today if it weren’t for the love of my family, friends and the men in my life.
For me Valentine’s Day is a chance to celebrate all kinds of love.
The centre of EAT THE CAKE AND NOT GET FAT is love; love yourself and your body and take care of your body just like you do with your loved ones.
Life without love is not life and one thing I LOVE and can’t live without is….. CHOCOLATE!!!
For most women chocolate is a no no; even on Valentine’s Day. But for me it’s the best part – free chocolate J yummy!
Most women I know call it “diets breaker”. I call it “the reason I wake up in the morning”.
Now we already said that EAT THE CAKE AND NOT GET FAT is about love. Your food would be healthier if you make it with love and therefore less fatting, meaning you can still EAT THE CAKE AND NOT GET FAT!
You want to hear about another great way to have fun, eat what you want and look fabulous? Share your food with your loved ones! It’s way better than going by yourself to some drive through…
Love yourself and stop hating yourself for what you eat and for the time you don’t spend in the gym.
A recent study made right here in Canada on people that satisfy their sweet tooth by eating fruits found out that when they were given chocolate instead, their sugar intake was less, because chocolate is way more sweet so they couldn’t eat as much and their sweet tooth was truly satisfied for a change; so they ended up losing weight!
Now that’s what I call good news!
It’s also considered to be a superfood!!!  It’s high in iron, manganese, copper, magnesium, fibre, phosphorus and antioxidants which help to lower bad cholesterol and to improve blood flow so it is actually good for you!
When I’m happy I look better. It’s a fact and that’s one of the most imported rule for how I keep my figure and eat what I want.
I love myself, I love the people in my life, I love my job, I love where I live, I love waking up in the morning and I love myself.
Don’t EVER stop loving yourself! That’s the biggest mistake you can do in your life and you deserve to be happy and enjoy life!
If you don’t love yourself nothing I say here would help you; it starts with loving yourself.
I love you.
Me <3

p.s .
I considered writing this blog about how sex can keep you slim but my parents read this blog too and I don’t know about you but I came to this world with the stork…
But kissing can burn around 120-325 calories an hour….

There’s nothing that makes me happier then water.
That’s where I feel complete. When I was younger I wanted to be a white water rafting guide. I even got accepted to an advance white water rafting guide course! And then I broke my elbow L, SAD!
2 surgeries later, I’ve decided to change my dream and become a nutritionist.
This is how we end up here.
But enough talk about me! Let’s talk about why you need to drink water.
Water is good for you!
You know it; I don’t really need to explain why.
If you don’t drink enough water you WILL get sick but did you know if you drink TOO MUCH water you can get sick too?
Why should you drink water?
It helps to energize muscles, helps to keep skin looking good, helps your kidneys, helps to maintain normal bowel function, protects our joint, gives a boost to out metabolism, helps our organs to absorb nutrients and protect them, etc.
It’s magical!
Most of the times when you’re not feeling well, drinking water would make it better.
If you have the flu, or even just a cold, drinking water makes you healthier faster. This is when I strongly suggest drinking so much water until you puke it.
Any other day I want you to drink 2-3.5 liters a day.
2-2.5 liter a day is great but there are days when your routine changes and you work out at the gym or you’re going climbing or perhaps you got you period and then, my friends, you want to drink between 3 to 3.5 liters a day.
2-2.5 liters a day is a good amount to start and then you can always add.
If it’s more than 3 hours since the last time you went to pee go and drink 2 cups of water.
Now, because you know how to read you also know that water is good for you so I can make this post short and just explain how drinking water help you to EAT THE CAKE AND NOT GAT FAT.
There are so many reasons to drink water but I’m going to talk about 2 of them; the 2 that help you EAT THE CAKE AND NOT GAT FAT.

#1 Drink ice water!
Body temperature is estimated at 37 degrees Celsius.
Water has zero calories in it but your body does burn calories warming itself… If you drink 2 liter of ice water a day you burn around 70 calories from that.
That’s not a lot but we don’t really care about calories here. What I love is that the ice water keeps your metabolism running afterwards.
It’s like walking on a treadmill for a half an hour vs. lifting heavy weights. You burn calories doing both but when you’re lifting weights you keep burning calories afterwards because your metabolism is running fast; same with ice water: you’re not only burning calories drinking it, but you keep your metabolism running.

#2 Drink water with lemon!
There are so many reasons for drinking water with lemon, but today we’re going to talk about why it helps you to EAT THE CAKE AND NOT GAT FAT.
Lemon helps flush out unwanted materials, increase the rate of urination in the body - which helps purify it. Lemons are also high in pectin fibre, the same ones that help fight hunger cravings.
Water with lemon also cleanses the liver; doing that helps your body to detox itself.
And that’s it…for now J
Make sure to check the Valentine post next week.
P.S
If you don’t love the taste of water don’t buy flavoured water! Make you own flavoured water and get extra nutrients from it!
Add any herb or fruit that you want (I suggest lemon, just saying) and enjoy super healthy flavoured water.
The flavored water that you buy in the store are good for almost as much as soda.

Vitamins.
This thing your body can’t live without.
How many of you have heard your mom say “eat your veggies”?
I never heard it from my mom but I've heard it from my kindergarten teacher. It didn't help me eat my veggies…

When I cook I like to make my food look like a rainbow. Not just because I love to support the LGBT community but because this is an easy way to make sure I have a huge range of vitamins from my food.

In this post we are going to learn how you can get all your vitamins from your diet and why running to buy supplements is not necessarily the best thing for you.
Let’s explain about each vitamin first and then we’ll talk about the supplements and everything else you need to know.
There are two groups of vitamins.
Group #1 is the fat soluble vitamins.
Fat soluble means those vitamins which are stored in the liver and in the fat tissue of the body, so you don’t need to take them daily.
They’re in your body so your body can use them whenever it needs to.
Foods with fat soluble vitamins keep their nutrients when you cook them.
if you absorb too much of those vitamins you might suffer from  toxicity.
And now let’s talk about each vitamin:
Vitamin A:
Vitamin A helps to prevent eye problems, supports the immune system, protects against heart diseases, helps to lower the cholesterol level and helps with the formation of bones.
Sources for vitamin A include: green, yellow, red and orange fruits and veggies (kale and any other leafy greens veggies, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, carrots etc.), alfalfa sprouts, cayenne pepper, parsley, and mint.
Vitamin D:
Vitamin D works not just as a vitamin but as a hormone too. It boosts immunity and helps to absorb calcium.
Sources for vitamin D include: eggs, fish, oats, sweet potatoes, alfalfa sprouts and parsley.
Vitamin E:
Vitamin E helps in tissue repair and in promoting healthy skin, hair and eyes. It’s great for your blood pressure and it boosts circulation.
Sources for vitamin E include: dark leafy greens, legumes, nuts, seeds, eggs, oats, watercress, alfalfa sprouts and flaxseed oil.

Vitamin K:

Vitamin K helps to keep your liver healthy and is great for strengthening your bones.

Sources for vitamin K include: dark leafy greens, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, eggs, oats and alfalfa sprouts.

Now we move to group #2: water soluble vitamins. Water soluble means that those vitamins are not stored in your body and if you have an excess amount of them you will pee it out, meaning the next day you have to put those vitamin back in your body.

There are too many vitamins B’s to talk about so we are going to talk about vitamin B12 and then we’ll talk about the rest of the B complex.
Vitamin B12:
Vitamin B12 helps with the digestion and with the absorption of proteins, fat and carbs.
It helps to prevent anemia.
Sources for vitamin B12 include: nutritional yeasts, eggs, fish, nori algae, dulse algae, alfalfa sprouts and oats.
B complex:
The B complex (meaning vitamin: B1,B2,B3,B4,B5,B6,B7,B9,B10 etc.) promotes metabolism, helps with brain functions, assists in creating more red blood cell and lowers the cholesterol level.
Sources for vitamins B’s include: meat, whole grains, nuts, legumes, potatoes, nutritional yeasts, alfalfa sprouts, cayenne pepper, parsley, mint, eggs, poultry, spinach, avocado, leafy greens veggies, fish, carrots, broccoli, and tomatoes.
Vitamin C:
Vitamin C has more than 300 functions in the body including: tissue growth and repair, wound healing, removal of toxins from the body, lowering cholesterol level, protection against pollution and many more.
Sources for vitamin C include: berries, kiwi, citrus fruit, green veggies, orange veggies, red veggies, alfalfa sprouts and parsley.

And now after you know about each vitamin let’s talk about  it all.
How many of you take vitamin supplements? Why are you taking it?
There are a few reasons for a vitamins deficiency of:
·         You’re too lazy to eat a salad every day.
·         You took vitamins supplements when you were younger and it messed up your body so now you don’t have a choice but to take supplements.
·         You have a rare genetic disease and you can’t absorb vitamins properly.
·         You think you need supplements, so you take them.
45% of North Americans suffer from vitamin A deficiency! 45% is almost every other person! It’s crazy!
Vitamin A is a fat vitamin, meaning you don’t even need to put it in your body every day and if you eat a carrot or a tomato a day you’re more than OK.
Vitamin D is another fat vitamin, meaning, too, that you don’t need to put it in your body every day. In the summer your body stores it and releases it in your body during the cold winter days.
You can even get it from food!
But most of the people I know take it daily.
The problem with fat soluble vitamins is that your body keeps them and doesn't get rid of them so you basically poison your body.

Vitamins B is a very popular vitamin to take as a supplement when you feel you don’t have enough energy.
Energy = calories.
Vitamins have ZERO calories in them, meaning they also have ZERO energy in them.
Vitamins are helping our body to function. They’re not there  as a substitute for food.
Vitamin B12 is another popular supplement for vegans. You can get more then your daily amount of vitamin b12 from oats, nutritional yeast, nori and dulse algae and alfalfa sprouts.
Vitamin C is crazy.
So many people take it to fight cold. One vitamin can’t fight cold; you have to take ALL vitamins.

Vitamins B’s and vitamin C are water soluble vitamins, meaning if you eat a salad a day the excess amount you have from supplement not going to stay in your body.
Most of us get enough vitamins from food but when we take extra from the water soluble vitamins (B’s and C) for example when we take supplement even when we don’t need to instead of eating healthy you are going to have a very expensive urine.
I’ll make it short for you ( I know it’s kinda late now..lol) you don’t have to buy supplements; you can get all your vitamins from your diet.
If you don’t have a rare disease you don’t need supplements; you’re just lazy.
And if you want to stay healthy and thin you want to make sure you get all your vitamins because that’s what they do.
Eat a big range of colorful veggies and you’ll be fine.
That’s one of my secrets for how I EAT THE CAKE AND NOT GET FAT.
I eat my vitamins. I don’t drink them and I don’t take it as a supplement. I eat them!

Sorry for the long post but there was so much I wanted to share with you.
Next one is about water so it will be shorter, promise!
